If only the kids would read the same ‘rule’ book that parenting experts suggest. Problem is, the rules that work for one, won’t work at all for the sibling.
I would sometimes counsel distraught parents by pointing out that Dad/Mom had similar learning challenges but that they had turned out OK. And reinforce the idea that Dad/Mom could empathize with the kid and help strategize solutions.

For the life on me, I don’t know why anyone would want to raise a child. I’m glad my parents had a different opinion though.
