This demonstrates is one of the stranger, more dangerous things about the psychopath in the WH. His narcissism feeds on attention, so he panders to the amoral who think they can finally express and project their nasty stuff on the rest of us.
Immigration is a case in point. We need COMPREHENSIVE reform, not racist nonsense. We need a guest worker program for ag workers, a sensible and well staffed system to manage asylum seekers, a path to citizenship (or eventual deportation) for those here illegally, and a system with teeth for fining employers like trump who hire illegal immigrants. In connection with all of the above (among other actions) , we need to continue family-related immigration AND increase the standards for who we want to attract.
The wall is stupid, ignorant, unnecessary, and, in tiny’s mind, probably surfaced from his racist fantasies. But the need for serious, comprehensive reform is keen. Caging children is evil, but the need for serious reform is still necessary. Cutting off aid to Central America is insane. We need to engage with and help those countries stem violence and control their right wing extremists, so as to slow down their diaspora.
But trump is crazy, so all he sees is a way to play off the ignorance of his supporters with psychopathic nonsense, half truths, outright lies, and more of the same amoral bs that is his signature.
This explains why my opposition to tiny is NOT really political in nature. It has to do with his amoral, psychopathic narcissism, and the lickspittle regressives who feed off the insanity. They don’t seem to mind his lying. His treason. His ignorance.
Tiny’s psychopathic drive for attention taps into htribalism, fear, misogyny and hatred. But that doesn’t mean that the problems he harps on aren’t real problems. Some are, some aren’t. That ambiguity confuses his supporters.
Hard to justify a “huge” top of the line military if you can’t convince the folk that there are real enemies out there.. Propaganda is what has worked since the dawn of time.. and Americans are as gullible as they come. And.. there are tons of munition lobbyists that are pushing to replace all those bombs / rockets / Humvees / jets / tanks.. etc with new and better models.
You, your children and your grandchildren get to walk point. No REMFs in the Bolton clan. And you get to wear brilliant white uniforms so they can see you better.
We really need to radically amend or totally get rid of this “War Powers Act” which allows either stupid, or ill-advised presidents to intervene, under bogus rationales all over the world getting people killed. Congress needs to take back its responsibility to declare war, a responsibility they have not exercised SINCE 1941!!
