Actually, the conspiracy theorists believe that the Good Witch Glenda brought Dorothy into Oz just to get rid of the evil witches, without it ever being traced back to herself. With just the right amount of prodding, she was able to get the deed done by putting together the 4 travelers in secret, and guiding their way the whole time. The Wizard was of course in on it too.
Fun fact: In the original novel, there were actually two good witches, the (unnamed) Good Witch of the North, who gave Dorothy the shoes and sent her on her way; and Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, who Dorothy went to and told Dorothy how to use the shoes to get home. The Movie simplified the story a bit by combining the two characters and eliminating the journey to Glinda’s castle, which then made the character look like she was holding back on Dorothy, thus leading to today’s strip…
