Please, please, please, can’t this be left up to the woman involved and her medical advisors. Why should I or any other non-participating neighbor have any say?

Gosh, is this the wrong take on assault upon the law of the land, i.e., the right of an abortion for all women nationwide. This cartoonist needs to read up the venality of the GOP in denying that right.

Here in Texas the Sen. Angela Paxton, the wife of our born-again AG, has introduced a bill that would effectively require all women to get counseling from a Christian counseling service before they’d be allowed to get an abortion (SB 2243)

The Left supports access to birth control (see ACA) as well as supporting the woman’s decision about abortion. I don’t understand why the left is portrayed as “too busy”.

Totalitarians really do hate freedom/choice/tolerance of a constitutional democratic republic and want to micromanage every aspect of people’s lives, it seems?

Before Roe v Wade, two of my elementary school classmates had sisters that died from “appendix complications”. Even though I was only about 10 or 11, I heard the whispers that these were actually botched abortions.

Wealthier women could pay enough to find a doctor that would do a “D&C”.

Anything that takes away “punishment” of women for the “sin” of having sex is going to be resisted by so-called “Christians” and their GOP minions in state legislatures and the US Government. In mid-20th century, “Christians” stated as much. When that got shown up for the sham that it was, they switched to the “rights of the unborn” to be a more socially acceptable way to ensure continued punishment.

And besides, Jesus (PBUH) spent most of his time on earth railing against the poor and disenfranchised for spending all their time having sex. Right?

If fewer abortions were what you actually wanted, you would want birth control and sex education to be normal and ordinary.

    .

That is NOT what Republicans want.

    Republicans want to punish SINNERS.

Women sinners. Especially poor women sinners.

    .

One group of Republicans is now pushing to make abortion a Capital crime — any woman getting an abortion is to be put to death.

Evangelicals are very thorough. They will leave no stone uncast.

Do better Phil… The left has been trying to improve access to birth control for some time.

the left has never had an issue with easy access to birth control or women’s health care issues. The only ones complaining are on the right – this is not a “both sides” issue, unless you see tax cuts to the rich and climate change as a “both sides” issue. At least admit one side is lying when you pit the two sides against each other.

I suspect Mr.Hands’ cartoon shows the Right and the Left ignoring women while arguing as a more-or-less pathetic attempt at even-handedness. We’ve known for decades if not longer that the Right is vehemently opposed to ANY TYPE of contraception other than the patently ridiculous idea of “abstinence” – they are also absolutely opposed to any form of abortion, for ANY reason! Which is stupid verging on the moronic@

Let me explain, since they have evidently NEVER thought this position out, completely. The following will be a pragmatic view of the world, which some will find objectionable, for which I apologize, in advance!

Denial of access to contraception, on the whole, is disadvantageous to the lower classes since the well-to-do and the wealthy have sources available to them outside the country. So the white, brown and black working class poor will not have access to contraception, nor will they have access to the education that allows them to use it responsibly, since the Right objects to “that kind” of education, as well.

So the Right gets lots and lots of white, brown and black working-class poor women pregnant.

Next, comes the Right’s “No abortions” stance. All those white, brown and black working-class poor women are forced to carry all their fetuses (which they mostly DIDN’T WANT, to term). To the starry-eyed anti-abortionists who believe that all life is sacred – at least until the ‘kid’ drops, THEN THE MOTHER AND CHILD ARE TOTALLY ON THEIR OWN!

So now we’ve got the child, who wasn’t terminated, taking up space, using up resources, unwanted, mostly unloved while at the same time the Right is striving mightily to reduce any kind of financial assistance to the poor.

So we have a volatile mix of more population, coupled with less money to support them. The parents may try to accommodate the child but there’s always the possibility they’ll just dump the unwanted child into the orphanages which are supported by the American taxpayer, meaning you and I.

Oh, and, by the way, a very small percentage of those families with the unwanted children, when their backs are to the wall, financially, could very well resort to a bit of criminal behavior to make ends meet. Not saying they would, mind you, but MY attitude, as a former republican would definitely be “you wanted me to have the child, and you cut my living expense money and my access to food to feed the kid, as well – so breaking into your house and stealing your big-screen TV to sell to John down on the corner seems justified.”

And another, “by-the-way”, the brown and black working poor tend to vote Democratic, so most of those excess, unwanted “babies” will probably grow up to be Democrats.

And this is what I’m talking about when I speak of the “Right” not “thinking ahead”!

Phil’s comics have really been missing it a lot lately. The left supports easy access to birth control and many, if not most, support free access to birth control. And there are many examples in other countries where free access to birth control has been shown to greatly reduce abortion. As a tax payer, I’m all for it because it also makes economic sense in the long run.

    Um. False.

The “right” has consitantly and repeatedly attempted to make birth control, abortions, … heck even the ability to vote… less available to females. The “left” on the other hand has consistently been on the side of giving women more opportunities to make their own choices. The spokes-woman is addressing them both, but only one of them is responsible for any progress at all, and only one of them is the problem.

Plus, it’s only true in a cartoon that “the left” or “the right” is unable to multi-task.

The Reich wants all females to be slaves to their bodies, and to the people who controls them. It violates the 13th & 14th Amendments which they violate at their will for they don’t care for the secular constitution that violates their creed. Even if it doesn’t violate their Bible.
