Interestingly enough, I’ve never pictured Donald John Trump as any kind of a pirate. To me, as an amateur historian, Trump has always come across as more of an Alphonse Capone type of figure, only with not nearly the human compassion and basic ‘warmth’ and definitely lacking in the brains department, as well.

Actually, upon further reflection, old Alphonse was a much “better” man than our Donnie John simply because, while Al WAS a crook and a criminal, at least Al was smart enough to engender true loyalty from his minions and adulation from the people in his neighborhood through the administering of “good deeds” to help those around him when the need arose.

And, for whatever reason, Al came across as a “humble” man – his business cards listed him as a “Used Furniture Salesman”, for Pete’s sake! There weren’t many ways to become a success open to Alphonse Capone in the era in which he existed and he definitely chose badly, but, in the end he was a “success” and a “hero” in his neighborhood and will be remembered.

Donald John Trump, on the other hand, was born with a “silver spoon in his mouth”, cared not a whit for ANYONE but himself, proved repeatedly that the “Best way to make a SMALL fortune in business is to start with a LARGE fortune!”, and, if history remembers him AT ALL, it will be because he is the ultimate shining example of HOW NOT TO DO THINGS!

Donnie John promised to “drain the swamp” that was Washington D.C. – he didn’t, he hasn’t and he won’t. What Donnie John HAS DONE is turn the “swamp” into a “septic tank” with lots and lots of “republicans” bobbing up and down in it!

Even if we manage to flush Trump and his minions out of the system in 2020, it’s going to take DECADES to restore the “Rule of Law” to Washington and to remove the stench – and it probably will never again be as “good” as it once was! (it’s said that after the fall of the Roman Empire, it took decades before the people in the hinterlands saw any substantive change in their lives.

incorrectly believes that the Attorney General is HIS personal attorney and fixer. Bill Barr is clearly willing to go along with that, given his shocking performance around the Mueller Report – declaring that no crime was committed, which is NOT in his purview (the reason Mueller did not indict is not because he couldn’t for reasons of law, but because the Justice Department is forbidden by policy from indicting a sitting president – and that includes the AG), providing an unnecessary summary which was clearly a spin document protecting the president, permitting the President and his lawyers access to the report before release supposedly based on a law that has been lapsed for 20 years (and not applying it consistently, either)…the list goes on and on!
