hmmm. well the United States might not imprison dissidents, we do have the highest prison population of any of the wealthier countries by a wide margin – not exactly a key indicator of a success – and pretty sure give those authoritarian countries a run for their money, not to mention have a pretty bad record of our police harassing, beating, and shooting people of color in particular. So not to be too smug about it.
