    Oh. And let us not forget that even at a baseline, how much of that price for a gallon of gas is a tax directly on you purchasing that gallon. Never mind the double taxation built into the taxation all along the way from pumping, to transporting, to refining, to distribution. The feds and the various states make more money on that gallon of gas than the big petroleum companies do. Diesel is often taxed even more.

    And before anyone questions my commitment, I am 100% for eliminating gas subsidies, so long as all subsidies for all industries are cut along with it.

    Still don’t understand why we fixate on the price of gas. Overseas, it’s generally 3 to 4 times as much as we pay for it here stateside. And I see more and more big cars and trucks on the roads these days, so that certainly isn’t helping….
