If you’re interested in the details of the Adams Memorial Commission, the text can be found in Section 2406 of S. 47: John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/116/s47/text).
The commission has been structured as a 12-member team with four members from the House of Representatives, four members from the Senate, and four members appointed by the President. The White House released a statement (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/statement-by-the-president-29/) specifically calling out this section laying out a Constitutional separation-of-powers argument for stripping commission members from Congress of any decision-making authority and leaving control in the hands of those commission members appointed by the Trump administration. Nothing truly honors John Adams quite like throwing in a bit of drama in what would otherwise be planning mundane logistics.

My favorite part of the bill is section 2503, authorizing signage to be placed on federal land for the American Discovery Trail, the first non-motorized coast to coast trail in the nation. A great win for long-distance hiking!
Hurray! I knew there were plans in the works, good to see them move on. Adams deserves a monument as least as much as that slaveholding rapist Jefferson.
And Jefferson and Franklin both clearly said that independence would never have happened were it not for John Adams. Neglected by history (as he predicted), but a man of remarkable incorruptibility and principle, he called himself “obnoxious and disliked” in his letters, but he earned the respect of those around him.
Wonderful. With four from the Senate and four (probably acting) members from the WH, I have no doubt it will be a statue of him on a rearing horse, wearing a Confederate uniform.
The Adams memorial commission was created in 2001. I’ve been keeping an eye on them since I found out about them. This is the first I’ve heard about them finally getting some traction.

This can’t be a Republican plan. The word “jobs” isn’t gratuitously inserted into it’s title.
