I’m sure they are all sincere and have been working their tails off for years as progressive stalwarts, long before anybody else had the guts. Well, pretty sure… um kinda like I think they have come around to it… ypu know, specific plans and policies independent of party control…
One case of copy cat I don’t mind. The important thing is that whoever wins keeps the promises, all of which are supported by a majority of Americans, medicare-for-all even being supported by a majority of Republican voters. Didn’t realize that Mr. O’Rourke was so hyperactive, and where the hell are Bernie’s glasses?
I was in college in the 1970’s and in at least in California and Texas tuition was basically free. In 1970 tuition at state universities in California was about $75 a semester, in 1975 graduate school tuition at University of Texas was $200 for a full load or roughly 100 hours of a $2 hour student job which would be equal today to $1,000 for a person with a $10 hour student job.
Seems to me that Harris, Booker, and O’Rourke are more in the Clinton/Obama category, talking a good game while hewing closely to the neoliberal line. I’ll stick with Bernie, thanks.
When I graduated from high school in 1962, my husband and I bought a house and two cars within the next few years, on what he was making on a job he got right out of high school. Most of the guys I graduated with did the same. I didn’t work, few women did, and those who did usually chose to do so. Now, it isn’t really a choice for most women, unless they don’t mind living in poverty. When I decided to become a teacher, my first quarter’s tuition at Southern Illinois university was $79, and we rented any books we needed for $20. Anyone could go to college with just a part time job to pay for it. Since that time, the GNP has skyrocked and the American worker is acknowledged to be the most productive in the world. But, all of the value they are producing is going to the top 1%. The Middle Class standard of living is declining, and a college graduate hasn’t anywhere near as easy a time as we had with just high school. We produce the highest quality goods on earth, and we can’t afford to buy them. A young person told me a while back that I couldn’t really understand why their generation was so angry. What I actually don’t understand is why they aren’t rioting in the streets.
@ncorgbl • Detailed exit poll numbers and data from the Democratic primaries strongly indicate that Senator Sanders would have garnered 68 to 71 million votes had he been the nominee — and that was before half of Mr. Trump’s sordid and criminal behavior was generally known.
Mr. Trump is likely to retain almost all of his 2016 voters with perhaps an additional 2 to 3% increase when Bernie is tarred & feathered by Fox & Sinclair Broadcast Group.
That makes for a Sanders landslide. Senator Warren has similar projections, but with no primary vote data the margin of victory could be narrower or greater.
Whomever is the Dems’ candidate in 2020 will need to meld Progressive and middle-of-the-road ideas. No Dem espousing a pure ideology has a chance of winning the election.
It is just a matter of priorities. We don’t need so much of the wasteful military spending, for example. Our drug war needs to change also. Throwing drug users in prison isn’t working and it is very expensive.
I really don’t care that many of the Democrats have the same message. What I do know is that their message is VERY different from Trump. If Bernie is nominated, I will vote for him, if Harris if nominated, I will vote for her, if Booker is nominated, I will vote for him, if Warren is nominated, I will vote for her, if O’Rourke is nominated, I will vote for him. Any blue will do!
NYU School of Medicine is tuition free. When Medicare negotiates the cost is always less. Medicare should be allowed to negotiate drug prices. Cheapest FDA approved provider regardless of country.

If the gummint supplied free tuition for college, at least students would quit wasting their parents’ money.

Nope. Beto is against free college tuition. Warren actually has a detailed policy list.
But even if this were true, isn’t this a good thing?

Ted’s trying to get Trump re-elected, just like he helped get him elected in the first place by demonizing Hillary.

I don’t see Mayor Pete depicted. He’s not… quite… like the others (because he’s Episcopalian).
