Yes, indeed. We, the People of our community, we OWN our electric company. We elect the board. We make the decisions. We ENJOY and SUPPORT our local SOCIALIST power company.
Because if we didn’t have them we’d be paying some corporation for what WE built in the first place and what WE own now.
It’s less about the -ism and more about the people. Socialism is nice on paper, but there have been a lot of attempts to put it into practice that ended in repression and murder. Capitalism has a nice underpinning of self reliance and work-for-success, but it certainly can lend itself to abuse. It doesn’t matter what the system is. If the ones implementing it are selfish or, perhaps worse, so overzealous that they’ll go to any means to achieve their goals, people are going to suffer.
I find his very strange. The US has been trying to destroy Venezuela for years to steal their oil and y’all are blaming Russia. America is uninformed by corporate media lies and stupidity reigns.
Venezuela was not communist, socialist or any other ‘type’ of government. It was and is a den of thieves who stole and are stealing public money for their own benefit and abetted by international shelters for money laundering. When you are stealing billions of dollars, you have millions of dollars for bribes, payoffs and attorneys who will sing your tune for a price.
