    I think the cartoonist is being unfair to single out the Russian legal system this way.

    I’m not saying that it’s not true, I’m saying that it’s more common than that.

    Neb, I understand that more people hav e died in Russia prisons than were killed in Nazi concentration camps. Yes, other countries do it but Russia is the worst the world has ever known.

    we lived in Russia 2005-08: the KAL cartoon is spot on. Russia will never join the modern world until it allows the rule of law into its system…

    Maybe some there think democracy is “unrussian” just like some people think government intervention in anything is unamerican…

    left and right are slippery terms. left generally means more collectivism, equality, right more individualism and personal liberty.. Communism is certainly not a far-individualist system.
