    It’s not the phrase that’s so offensive, it’s the context and intent. My wife and I wer doing errands one day. I told the lady in the car in front of me to “Move it over, Sugarplum.” My wife said to me, "You don’t ever call me “Sugarplum”. My reply was, “You don’t want me to.” IT wasn’t meant to be complementary.

    Well, the thing is, it’s different if you are a dog. But a lot of us here are not dogs and yet still use that word. Therein lies the problem….

    That dog walks like a camel — both left feet forward, then both right feet,… all other four-footed animals put left front and right rear forward, then right front and left rear, etc.
