A statue of the photo was recently taken down after it was spray painted by metoo. The concept of the photo is a little dated in 2019, but I appreciate the cartoon idea today.
I hope the democratic party comes to their senses and denies Bernie support. Bernie’s time is past and now is an albatross around the neck of progress.
Bernie gave us the message, and he did it well. Just look at the results of the last election. I still like him, but I’m afraid he’s a little old to be elected to a four-year office. Now it’s time to let others take the lead.
I am grateful to Bernie for forcing the conversation, but as a contemporary of him, I have doubts about anyone taking office at 79 years of age. We are past our prime, no matter how well we seem to have aged.
Along with concepts like rationality and compassion, we have lost of office of elder statesman. We need to recover them all. “Senate” comes from the Latin senex, an old person. With enough young members to keep it from fossilizing, that is where Sanders and Warren should stay and continue to provide the wisdom of experience. In parliamentary countries, the senate has been compared to a living encyclopedia.
The powers that be don’t want the public to have any say in policy. So they offer you other aspects of your president that you can customize. You can choose a young president to give your money to insurance companies, or if you prefer, an old president who will give your money to the same companies. In this era of multiculturalism, you have so many more choices. Do you want a white president to start wars against Iran and Venezuela, or a black one to do it? Do you want a man or a woman to prosecute marijuana users and give bank fraudsters a pass? So many choices.

I usually agree with what Ohman draws but this is a bit tacky considering that the WWII vet that he refers to has just passed.

The 21st century generation deserves to lead themselves into the future. Not 20th century ideologies.
