This is a great cartoon! You are absolutely right that healthcare, climate change, and mass shootings are national emergencies while border security is not. Well said!

I wonder … Is Gorrell just being a jackass clothed in the symbol for the Democratic Party?

There are bipartisan agreements on border SECURITY. Trump is insisting on a WALL which has been determined to be more expensive and less effective than other SECURITY measures.

Does Gorrell actually consider this cartoon a ridicule of Democrats? How could he have done more to ridicule Republicans?

Two more emergencies to put ahead of the fourth panel, 1. foreign interference in our elections, and 2. electronic cyber attacks on our commerce and military

This will play well to the base. But the base alone is not enough to win re-election.

Now they might say they don’t care about re-election….but they do. The more accurate way to look at this is 1) can he get away with it? 2) If he does then does this become the new “normal”? The other Rs don’t have a spine to stand up on so they won’t push back.

It’s always embarrassing to watch conservatives like Gorrell try so hard to pretend a wall along the border with Mexico is considered “Border Security”.

I ‘liked’ this today, because it was the truth. Remember TRUTH??

I’ve always suspected Gorrell was a Liberal in disguise. This cartoon proves it.

Spending $5B on a funny wall that you can climb over or tunnel under as easy as a fence makes as much sense as hiring comic book superheroes to protect the border.

I honestly think he was trying to put the Dems down but instead accidently got it right. wait until he hears it from the white house.

Note that almost every mass shooter has been domestic, and white. Anthropogenic climate change (regional, then global later) has been studied and proven as a major threat since the 1950’s. Medical care, especially pharmaceuticals, are more expensive in the US than in any other “developed” nation with more sensible policies. Border security has long been funded, and the addtional is needed for MANPOWER and updated tech, not a 13th century wall. OMG! Gorrel finally gets it right!

An emergency is something you have to deal with right away or risk serious consequences. By that standard, climate change is the greatest emergency we have ever faced.

Every single democrat running for election would loudly voice the border needed a wall, until they don’t get the credit for it.

Never mind, can’t do it. I can’t say anything here without being just plain negative and derisive. This comic has pushed me to the limit. Trying to comment without going into full on rant mode is impossible.

So I just won’t say anything.

The president declared a national emergency. The next day he was golfing at Mara Lago. Let that sink in Mr. Gorrell. The leader of the free world is golfing during a national emergency. You guys are deplorable!!!

Of course, agreeing to put more than a $billion into border security is a sure sign that the Dems think it’s unimportant. Though I do agree the others are as important (and less well funded)

the first three have statistics and studies and science and expert findings and discussions and more backing them.. the last one has Don the Con.

Stange how I missed those emergency declarations here in the real world.

So when the president admits that border security is not a national emergency, that’s fine. But when Democrats say the same thing, as they have all along, they are such ridiculous fools!
