These freshmen congresswomen are forcing Gorrell to actually pick up his Wacom pen and draw something new. It’s still a shoulders up portrait against a gradient(it’s the scary red to black gradient that aims to panic old people in the same way the constant FOXNews ALERT graphic does)
Attacking the Jewish people is wrong but attacking their political failings and violations of international laws is not wrong. people need to listen to what she is actually saying and not to what pundits say she means.
What a lovely display of hypocrisy. After a years-long stream thinly-disguised (at best) dog whistling to the anti-Semitic right from Trump and his allies from Steve Bannon and Kevin McCarthy down to Steve King, hack pseudoconservative cartoonists recoil in feigned horror when a progressive traffics in the same tropes. Trump not only praised the “fine people” among the Charlottesville neoNazis, he in the last week of October boosted an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory about George Soros funding dangerous refugee “caravans” —and just a few days later, a man subscribing to such theories committed mass murder at a Pittsburgh synagogue. That didn’t provoke outrage by Gorrell, not the way this insensitive but ultimately inconsequential rhetoric did.
I wonder when it became anti-semitic to tell the truth. Americans have no idea what Israel is doing in the middle east, the atrocities against Palestinians or the control they have in congress. Lobby is a polite way of describing bribery. “When the government lies, the truth becomes a traitor” Gov. Jesse Ventura. So she is demonized for telling the truth. Democracy in action.
Like a broken clock, she is partly right. Congress has always been “for the Benjamins”. Anybody with bags of cash. Corporations, any foreign government, anybody with money. Period. The average citizen has less representation in our current system than we did as colonists under King George. What would be considered treasonous activity just about everywhere else in the world is ‘business as usual’ in the US Congress. A parliament of whores……
In a way she was incorrect. As I understand it, the greatest US support for the Likud government comes from the evangelicals waiting for the apocalypse (you know, when all the Jews are going to convert to Christianity en masse), not AIPAC. One of my Jewish colleagues was wondering why there was so much Christian support for Israel, so I explained this to her. It was an OMG moment for her.
Criticizing Israel for its many, long-standing, and serious faults is not “anti-Semitic”. I mean, is criticizing Meyer Lansky for being a revolting thug “anti-Semitic”?
The obvious fact that Palestinians aren’t angels doesn’t make the Israelis angels. That’s not how things work.

No Bob, she’s not. She is, however, very familiar with irrational hate.

Her comments were anti-Semitic and anti-lobbyist. Sadly in the US, the latter puts a bigger bulls-eye on your back than the former.

Amazing how the outrage is over whether the GOP is in the pocket of AIPAC when we all know that they have been bought by the NRA

It is possible to disapprove of Israeli politics and policy without being anti-Semitic.

Arabs and Jews are both Semites. After WW ONE, Lawrence and King Faisal tried to work out a better resolution in Palestine- still hasn’t happened.
