Dad is angry because he didn’t get to the fridge first so he could eat that cake. Of course, he doesn’t have any idea of how to make a cake himself. Maybe he could ask Molly so Bear can snicker while he sneaks out the door.
We have already been shown that he is mostly fur. Thinner than a skeleton.
