Hello? If you can “wait and see” … then, by definition IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY.
If the TrumpubliCONs did NOTHING for TWO YEARS while they had full control of the Senate, House and (fake) “presidency,” and then waited FIVE WEEKS of a record shutdown with no declaration of emergency, and then THREE MORE WEEKS of discussions with no declaration of emergency — if you can wait two years, then five weeks then three more weeks then, by definition IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY.
Asked how long it would take to build his fantasy, make-believe wall (I mean fence, I mean steel slats [that were easily sawed through], I mean beaded curtain)? Peaches?
Trump said he thinks it could be built in TWO YEARS. Hello, that is not an emergency.
Emergency? That is what Hitler needed, so he torched the Reichstag (national legislature) declared a national emergency, and claimed dictatorial powers.
The only “emergency” is FIRE in the Oval Office. The fake “president’s” pants are ablaze, burning even brighter than Hitler’s Reichstag.
I personally think that all the furor over Donnie John declaring a “National Emergency” when there really ISN’T one is realistically being overstated.
To all my fellow “progressives” I point out that IF his national emergency manages to get past the Supreme Court and is proven a viable option then there are two consequences.
The first is that the money for Donnie John’s “wall” will come from various military projects and, thus, would NOT endanger most Americans, at all, and, indeed, may be a “swords to plowshares” moment in and of itself.
The second consequence would be the establishment of “National Emergency” as a viable political option, with future Presidents could utilize through the judicial premise of “Precedent”!
Imagine a Democratic President, immediately after the first mass shooting under his watch, declaring a “National Emergency” which bans the sale of all guns in America.
So, see, Donnie’s “idiocy” is not without its “silver lining”.
The Emergency began when Truman started to desegregate the military in 1948, and segregationists led by Strom Thurmond began to bolt from the Democratic Party. LBJ lamented in 1964 that the Civil Rights act would hand elections to the unregenerate for fifty years, and he was right. But time’s up now!
Progressives are on track to have unified control of Congress and the Presidency in 2021, with only the Senate filibuster standing in the way of enacting Progressive legislation on all of the issues where the public approves, including gun safety.
