Trump promised to shut the government down. He said HE would do it and would not blame the Democrats.
And after five brutal weeks that caused real harm to MILLIONS of people (employees, their families, contractors), and a hit to the U.S. economy that TRUMP’s own Office of Management and Budget calculates at $11 BILLION (twice what he even asked for), Trump CAVED completely and finally agreed to the same deal he had in the first place.
Trump did this, and Mitch McConnell, by refusing to bring a floor vote that Republican senators would have voted for, was an accessory after the fact.
