Via late reporting from the New York Times, we now hear from sources inside the White House that Trump is whining to close aides that he is being “crushed” on the shutdown and trying to figure out what to do.
How about, as Former Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill said on Lawrence O’Donnell, “Take yes for an answer.”
They had a deal. Trump had agreed to it. It passed the Senate UNANIMOUSLY.
But then, boo hoo, hate media talk show hosts Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham whined that Trump gave Democrats too much (while, at that time, RepubliCONs still controlled the House, Senate and Presidency). They scolded Trump, said he was a bad boy, and cowardly little Trump turned his balls over to Ann Coulter (which is why she has them and he doesn’t), abdicated his presidency, turned his authority over to Coulter, Limbaugh and Ingraham, and shut down the government.
Trump owns it. He said he would be PROUD to shut down the government. He said he would “take the mantle” of a shutdown and would not blame the Democrats.
Why should Democrats negotiate with someone who makes deals and then backs off and moves the goal posts AFTER a deal has been made.
The “art of the deal” should not include changing your mind after an agreement is made.
I wonder if fat-ass will finally figure out that most voters DO have a long memory, contrary to what FAUX Noise and Rush Limpballs say, and they WILL remember who took the pay away from 800,000 federal employees, closed down the national parks, curtailed the Coast Guard, and screwed up Air Traffic in the country in 2020? And, just a hint, it WASN’T the Democrats…
OK, Donnie, you win! You now have the longest government shutdown in history. Declare victory and praise yourself and get on to playing golf and attending “I love Trump” rallies at taxpayer expense. In other words, business as usual.
There is a Biblical quote about boiling a calf in its mother’s milk. That is what the Trump shutdown is like. First he inflicts hardships on 800,000 people directly and then the ReTrumplicans insult them with things like, “Barter for the rent.” or “It’a a vacation.” (Whoopie! We’re going to Disney Land).
Does the expression “Let them eat cake” come to anyone else’s mind?
Everybody else has to tighten their belts, while Buttercup and friends hog it up at the public trough several times daily. They not only won’t lose money, they won’t lose any weight either.
My suggestion to end the government shutdown. The Democrats “cave in” to Trump and give him his wall. They explain to the American public how much this useless wall, that was, in Trump’s words, supposed to be paid for by Mexico. will cost them. But it is a sacrifice that Trump and the Republicans forced upon them to restore the government to the American people and paychecks to 800,000 people. In 2020, they need to reiterate that it was Trump and the Republican Senate who backed him, who shut down the government, and how they, the Democrats, restored it. The Democratic party can then claim that they represent the American people while the Republicans are more concerned with supporting the Party and its leader, Donald Trump. Lose the battle, win the war.
