Problem is that impeachment won’t accomplish anything without Conviction. That requires the Senate to dotheirjob and currently there are not enough of them who would. There are no rubles flowing into their pockets from the NRA for conviction. But there ARE rubles coming in for letting the train run off the tracks.
What worries me most about a Trump impeachment is that it will cause, not so much a civil war, as will cause an enormous and ongoing amount of violence by conservative extremists. Conservatives will become homegrown terrorists. Think about it for a moment; Trump seemed “unhinged” long before he ever became involved in politics. So why would anyone for an obviously demented individual? Because they are of the same frame of mind with the same detachment from reality as Trump, and will easily find violence to be the best solution to whatever problem their demented minds create.
There is no actual law forbidding indicting a sitting president – it’s only the published opinion of Nixon’s AG back when Nixon was getting in legal hot water that stated presidents can’t be indicted. And clearly Nixon’s AG was biased and trying to protect his president.
I think the new AG that Trump is putting into place may not have the same blind loyalty, and may allow Trump to be indicted with federal criminal charges as a result of the Mueller investigation. And even if he’s not indicted on federal criminal charges (which he thinks he can pardon himself of anyway), he can and should be indicted on state criminal charges (his misuse of the Trump foundation money in NY comes to mind). Presidents can’t pardon state criminal charges. Trump can occupy a state prison cell for 5 – 10 and Pence can’t do thing-one about it.
Impeachment isn’t for removing elected officials who aren’t doing what you want them to do. That’s what elections are for. Impeachment is for officials who break the law and/or violate their oath of office. And do me a favor and can it with the Russia garbage. The British (Cambridge Analytica/the Integrity Initiative) and the Israelis have and are doing far more to interfere with our elections and governmental operations than the Russians could in their wildest dreams.

The Battle Hymn of the Trump [2nd and 3rd verses]
Trump is Putin’s poodle, he does everything for Vlad
He’ll tell him all the secrets of our nuclear triad
Who knew that treason ever could become a kind of fad?
The way he carries on!
Glory, glory you can’t reach him
Glory, glory you can’t teach him
Best to out-and-out impeach him
The way he carries on!
Each member of his Cabinet has been told by Trump to lie
(But what’s a little perjury, when crooks see eye to eye?)
Were Nixon here it’s very clear that even he would sigh
The way he carries on!
Glory, glory you can’t reach him
Glory, glory you can’t teach him
Best to out-and-out impeach him
The way he carries on!
