The last thing I think we want racist leaders to be in a democratic society is quiet.
I am persuaded that America’s growing propensity toward suppressing speech was, at the least, a contributing factor putting Donald Trump into the White House and, at worst, directly responsible for the degree to which pollsters and prognosticators so grossly misjudged his popularity among the electorate.
The Court of Public Opinion cannot be expected to serve the cause of truth or justice if it won’t allow witnesses to incriminate themselves.
