    On the way to my Cardioligist, I weigh myself at Publix, then Winn-Dixie and the Ace Hardware store, all reading a “228”.. At the MD’s office, Nurse Dixie checks me in at “242.” My protestations fall on deaf ears.. Then I get ‘the talk’ from Dr. Grabholdamamoni about losing weight and my need to walk 2-3 miles a day, all the while leaning on my walker, thanks to failed spinal surgeries.. SMH

    Don’t forget the Leatherman multi-tool on the belt, it probably adds a pound, at least

    Knock 20 lb from the scale reading – still grossly over-weight.

    I used to weigh myself with only my glasses on (I couldn’t read the dial without) but stopped when we moved the scale downstairs next to the kitchen. :-}

    I always emptied my pockets, removed my belt (western buckle), and took off my safety toed boots ‘cause the nurse wouldn’t ever subtract for those. Also told the doc the BMI was crap because it was a one-size-fits-all and people are not all the same muscle and bone structure wise.

    I don’t get on scale unless my overweight doctor gets on first!

    You forgot his Leatherman, flashlight, and spare keys for when he locks the first set in his truck.

    A real-life variation on the “glass half full” perspective…

    Gad, I was there about 20 years ago. I must have looked like an apple on two long sticks.

    I framed this for my doctors office to hang over the scale. They loved it! It is so true.
