That checking on line thing…you don’t have to wait until the statement comes out to see the activity & the bad news.

My credit card company is great. When charges started showing up in Florida on my card, but at the same time charges here at home were being made, they called me. Someone had got my number and made a fake card and was having a high time at Miami Beach. Fortunately, I didn’t have to pay for it.

Happened to me shortly after one of the major card breaches. They made several small purchases, then two flights to Vegas on my card. I got reimbursed.

It is important to let your card company know you’re traveling if it’s not your usual habit, or you could find your card suddenly locked out. Happened to me too.

Yeah, this happened to me. I caught it before they issued the statement and they took the charges off. No, I didn’t buy a couple round-trip tickets from Bangalore to New Delhi, nor did I rack up $500 in charges at a craft store in Washington…

I recently was making a purchase online with my credit card at my home in Massachusetts. About a minute after giving it, my credit card number, the card company called and told me my card had been used to make purchase in Paris, San Francisco, and Honolulu at virtually the same moment.

I cancelled the purchase I was making and had them freeze my card while they mailed me a new one.

I’m on PayPal now, but will always wonder how those three uses had been arranged so quickly. It was literally one minute after I gave my number.

I get text alerts whenever any card is used for a purchase of more than a dollar. It always amuses me when the alert comes before I sign.
