TCL - I think you nailed the hockey thing. But, I wouldn’t give up on Calgary and Edmonton - sometimes just a super-star away, and look at all that oil money. (Look what the Blackhawks did with that Winnipegger Jonathan Toews as team captain.) Toronto is another matter. We need them to under-achieve so we can smugly kick them around.
The GOP got billions of USD more in tax cuts for the top 2% earners during a period of mass debts, which they will slam Obama with soon enough. They don’t get to moan that they were cheated.
DADT was generally OK’d with the military, as was START. The tax deal included iirc payroll tax cuts, despite the fact that payroll taxes are important for paying for Social Security at a time SocSec is paying for a high percentage of unemployed. As for the 9/11 responders… hey, after all the times the GOP was talking about 9/11, they owe it to the guys who were actually working there as I see things.
