He can only live on the ‘seasonal bump’ for so long, then reality returns

I don’t mind winter, when it’s consistantly WINTER. This looks to be one that hovers around 30°, with many days 35-40. Never 3 days in a row with SNOW. Nothing but dark, cold, bleak blah! That is SO HARD!!!! (In SE WI, btw. I miss SNOW!!)

Better a subtle shift then to just jump right into the abyss of winter mode!

I suspect that one reason a lot of people got behind Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday is that there were hardly any between New Year’s and Memorial Day. And this is when we really need them!

It’s like realizing you’re over the hiccups. You can’t really pinpoint when it happened, let alone when it’s going to happen. You just, at some point, notice that it did happen. The significant difference, of course, is that everybody wants to be over the hiccups and rejoices when it’s happened. Christmas, sure, some people are ready for it to be over sooner than others, and there are even a few whose inability to let go has kept Bronner’s in Frankenmuth in business all these years. But most of us, at some point, are ready to get on with things. But I’m not sure anyone rejoices when it happens.
