Make her the pitcher, there will be no home runs from her.

It wasn’t the smartest thing to say by a long shot CB, no.

Haven’t seen much of girls’ softball teams lately, Charlie Brown?

I can’t throw well at all but that comment has always insulted me. Yup, I’m a girl and I can’t throw. What are you going to do about it??

Why is everyone so sensitive? I grew up w that comment, which I admit describes me perfectly. Even said it last night playing with my dog when his ball wound up in the laundry basket and I had to fish it out for him. I prefer to laugh it off instead of getting upset. Better for my health.

Yes, it was a foolish thing to say, Charlie Brown — especially since she can still clobber you for saying it!

I’d much rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, they can wear cute clothes, and they are the first to be rescued off of sinking ships. ~ Gilda Radner

Does anyone here take into account when this comic came out?Besides throwing is a learned behavior. Back then almost no girls learned to throw a ball, so the saying was pretty accurate. If you want to see a guy “Throw like a girl” ask him to throw with his non dominate hand. You will most likely see the same “pushing” motion that people that haven’t learned to throw have, because he hasn’t learned to throw with that hand.Notice the comic even shows this, where she is throwing straight up and down and pushing with her hand instead of coming over slightly to the right and extending her arm. A little instruction and practice and most people doing this wrong would be tons better at throwing.

I once played slow-pitch softball and we had a female catcher who had an arm like a piston. I was at first base and it stung like hell even through the mitt when she ran people out.

Depends on how they and boys are taught as to how to throw. Generally it is an insult to a boy to say that. Though not anymore.

I loved this commercial when it came out a few ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs

Shows how attitudes should be changing.

Some high school girls’ and college women’s track and cross country teams have shirts with this printed on the back: “I run like a girl. So, try to keep up.”
