I remember in the early 70s being given tiny, tiny conifers at school to plant at home. Now I realise the teacher probably knew they wouldn’t grow up, seeing as how the trees we were given did not grow naturally on the Midwestern prairie, and we were given no real instructions on planting and care. The school was seen to be “doing something” for conservation, and that was what it was about…a little showboat around funding appropriation time.

I think that is enough time. 2 and a half months to go….

Back when I was in college in the dorms, I got a living Christmas Tree that I named Frank. We kept in in our suite’s common room. Some of my suite mates were Art majors that had a project to make illustrations for an ABC book. One guy used persons and stuff around our suite as the theme for his illustrations: F is for Frank, L is for the Lamp that Linda Likes, X is for Xians (Christians).

Give it a few years, Violet. Better try a rosemary “tree” for this year.

Make some very small paper ornaments and place them on the tree. Next Christmas you should have something large enough to work with.

It’s already starting to look like it is wilting.
