The only difference between Bedford Falls and Pottersville is that the inner, impartial spectator in the people postulated by Adam Smith has been silenced in Pottersville. For example, the Savings and Loan was far more successful than Potter’s bank, just like all the other businesses in town. Smith postulated that we humans have a natural affinity for helping others, understanding that by working together we are all more successful.
So, Sedgwick is a fan of (the original) Adam Smith? His arguments are rather charming in their simplicity, though we all know (if we’re familiar with the movie) that Pottersville is not the way to go….

Sounds like this Pottersville is the same as Biff Tannen’s city in Bttf 2.

Ooh! I learned about this stuff in history! its laissez-faire economics proposed by Adam Smith

Now I realize that Jarvis is really a Jedhi, and Sedgewick is a young “Jabba the Hut”.

I’ve got to admit – Pottersville does look a lot more fun than Bedford Falls.
