Unless my eyes deceive me – was this comic strip originally published on 12/07/1968? Not only the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, but Vietnam anti-war demonstrations were going on and young men burning their draft cards.
The introduction of matchlock firearms hastened the end of the “shining armor” if I recall… crude, but technology usually is when it first comes out. But, I don’t recall seeing any further use of firearms in this strip beyond this…
