At least he has a list – as you grow older you’ve accumulated a lot of things – every year our kids complain they don’t know what to get us and heck – we don’t know what to get us either. I’ve actually considered asking for a dumpster.
this is why, now that our kids are grown, that we have a grab bag party. We bring oddball little presents all wrapped up and we just take turns drawing from a pile. That way no one stresses. No one’s feelings are hurt. No one’s bank account is busted (although you can nickle and dime your way to a big bill if you aren’t careful). And we still have fun of unwrapping surprises. swapping and bartering is not only allowed but encouraged.
I agree with everyone. I look around and wonder how much my kids will get for some of my stuff at a garage sale. I need nothing. I try to tell them a nice card and a family picture is more that sufficient. Of course, they will get us something we can’t use and have no place for which I will accept graciously and thank them profusely.
