    The candy makers have made it their business to sell you chocolate at Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter. Then they slack off during the months when the product is liable to melt in your hands.

    No, no, January’s not for fasting. January is for vegetables. After all the holidays, that’s when I become in January.

    But in January, the economy blossoms because the spas, gyms, and exercise gurus benefit from all the guilt. In February, we’re back to making up reasons not to go. By March, all guilt is erased – or at least rationalized away – and the norm is maintained until November.

    T’is the human way to play.

    Sadly, I notice that the protein phase is a good deal shorter than each of the two sugar phases. It’s gonna be another long winter.
