No vote goes unused. Your non-vote will effectively go to the candidate you really didn’t want. In this particular case, the unnamed boy’s non-vote went to the candidates favored by Gramps. It’s what voter suppression is all about.

Phew; that was close. The guy was about to vote for a republican.

And carefully observe the results of your choices. Without prejudice, if possible.

Gee, you’d think Gramps would WANT a Blonde-haired, Blue-eyed Straight White Man to vote… After all, aren’t THEY really God’s “Chosen People”, better then all of "Those " other people?

Gramps is gonna be sorry when he sees what the GOP does to his Medicare & Social Security…but that’s OK by him because “Those People” will suffer too. Anyone of retirement age who votes GOP & isn’t fabulously wealthy is cutting off their own nose to spite someone else’s face.

It’s true: depressing to relate, much of the early activity of the democratically-elected House of Burgesses in Colonial Williamsburg was concerned with how to fix it so that only the Right People could do the voting.
