Leona Helmsley: “Only the little people pay taxes.” (Owned much of Manhattan; when she died, her will left everything to her cat, since she had no human connections.)
Ronald Reagan: “Taxes should hurt.” (When he was governor of my state, California, before the press quickly confirmed that, for many years, millionaire actor Ronald Redneck had paid NO TAXES.
Trickle-down fraud is really all about the corporate feudal CONservative plan for CLASS WARFARE against working people by REDISTRIBUTING middle class wealth from working people to the few richest elites. Give all the wealth to the few richest elites who already have the most and promise the rest that the crumbs will “trickle down” to the rest of us.
Their plan: REDISTRIBUTE middle class employment income by OUTSOURCING (or off-shoring) their good American (union) jobs to cheap child slave labor overseas and keeping the difference and then, when they can’t keep up their payments, REDISTRIBUTE their houses to the same banks bailed out by these working people (foreclosure or evictions), REDISTRIBUTE their cars to finance companies (repossession) and REDISTRIBUTE their retirement savings to the Wall Street market manipulators who PRODUCE NO TANGIBLE WEALTH but gave us hedge funds, derivate investment “instruments” and credit default swaps by which they bet against middle class investors.
The few richest elites who already have the most want the middle class to WORK HARDER for LESS MONEY on which we pay a HIGHER TAX RATE, so they can WORK LESS (or not at all) for MORE MONEY on which they pay a LOWER TAX RATE (or none at all through loopholes, deductions, exemptions, exclusions, shelters, corporate welfare, Cayman Islands tax havens or just eliminating taxes on investment gains). The real CLASS WARFARE is really all about the corporate feudal CONservative plan for REDISTRIBUTING middle class wealth from working people to the few richest elites.
Let’s drug test anyone who bought a MAGA hat. Wanna bet THEY have a higher drug use rate then folks on welfare? Of course, in Red States there’s a LOT of overlap between the two…
Clay has nailed it with the RW hypocrisy on redistribution—-totally against redistribution of wealth from top to bottom but totally for it from bottom to top. AKA, I got mine and screw you.
Let’s try a little “simile” here – Republicans are like the guy who gets paid, goes to the bar on the way home from work, buys round after round for his buddies, staggers home to his wife and kids and announces that everyone will have to tighten their belts because money’s tight!
(Mitch, Mitch – Son of a Gun) has just announced that America doesn’t have enough money to continue to support Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid – this is AFTER those SAME Republicans have cut TRILLIONS of dollars from the tax base to give to their buddies, the wealthy and big corporations!
It has been estimated that, had taxes had just been frozen at the level they were in at the start of the Bush 43 administration, the National Debt would be paid off by now, but, NOOOO, Republicans ordered tax cut after tax cut for their buddies at the “bar” and NOW Americans are just supposed to ‘go along’ with cutting the safety net for the old and the poor and the handicapped!
I would ask, "just how STUPID do they think we Americans are, but we’ve already seen the answer in the lack of full-throated outcry over the Kavanaugh court fight!
The “Social Safety Net” has ALWAYS been a Democratic construct and it has ALWAYS rankled the soul of EVERY Conservative, extant. they are well on their way to dismantling it by claiming “hard necessity”!
It’s simple math. The folks making $700+ per hour (and for whom T-rump is a useful idiot) convince the folks making $25 per hour that their troubles are caused by folks making $7.25 or less per hour. Not original with me, but seems to fit here.
