Ancient thing; fake news. Some of it used to be called “yellow journalism.” And it’s been a part of the free press forever. But, once a nation’s leader declares honest journalism “fake news,” we have a problem. A big problem. Lack of trust in the free press is different than taking things with a grain of salt. Our “president” can’t stand the daily airing of his strange sayings and mistakes, not to mention his sordid past and ongoing moronic decisions.. it goes on and on. So, he has to paint journalism in general as “fake news,” as if we’re to trust only him.
Well, let’s see…fatass wants to “Pull the License” of news networks that don’t march in lockstep with HIS thoughts, he wants to BAN reporters from Press conferences if they don’t throw softball questions to Jabba the Hucksterbeast, he SWEARS that the print media is “Failing” while their revenues are GROWING, so yeah, he wants to have NOTHING but the “Trump State Media and Propaganda Channel” on the air, better known as FAUX Noise.
Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. I remember a magazine cover about Reagan and El Salvador (along with many other Central and South American countries). It was a skull on a mound of dirt. I think this was shortly after four nuns were murdered in El Salvador.
The U.S. has supported brutal military dictatorships for many, many years, so Trump’s behavior is typical.
One more reason to shorten this lunatic’s term! If we should ever lose the ability to have a free press, I would think this could start the beginning of the end. We can NOT allow that to happen…EVER..!!
