I really love how the relationship between these two has evolved over the years, and this strip is a perfect example.
Marigold hasn’t lost any of her essential character traits, but (as last week’s “being alone with my thoughts is TERRIFYING” strip nails so perfectly), she has become much more self-aware — and aware that not all of those traits are necessarily “perfection.”
I would have answered, “You and I spend so much time together that I can’t really present a special image to you. You know me too well. Just judge me on that basis.”
