The oldest cat ever according to the record books is Creme Puff who was born on August 3, 1967, and lived until August 6, 2005 – an amazing 38 years and three days.
We rescued a stray that had apparently been dumped near the motel where we went to ride out Hurricane Florence. She had been there for several days before we got there. The motel manager said she would peek in the lobby window every day as if looking for someone. She was hungry, lonely and drenched. My wife was able to coax her into a carrier the morning she left for home and so we left with four and came home with five. We named her Flo in honor of her surviving the storm. She has moved in with no problems, and was obviously someone’s house pet. Now she has a forever home, and four sisters who will learn to adjust.
Oh Mitty, you are too clever, fancy and tough to die young. You will live a long life texting, serenading Fiona and trying to keep Stumpy from a stint in catnip jail.

I just saw a cat a couple days ago that was 30 years old. Yup, 30. He looked better than some of the 20 year olds I saw.
