Take it from a Grandma who’s been there, done that. I understand the wish to keep your kids safe and in a bubble as long as possible, but it won’t stop them from getting those bumps bruises and possible broken bones at some point. As long as they’re willing to learn safely, let them be kids and get a few hard knocks. It teaches them to be more careful in the future.

I was 8 and begged for a skate board. No dice. I’m 60+ now and still wish I knew how to ride one.

In my day, kids would bolt sheets of plywood onto a roller skate (and helmets for anything were unknown.) Things are a lot safer today!
