This is a big reason why I gave up on the Republican Party after 20 years of voting with them. They have turned into a group with no honor or ethics. I have conservative friends that now say that unless it is illegal and someone is convicted with a prison sentence, it isn’t/wasn’t wrong to do it. It’s hard not to tell them how despicable that position is.
Clay Bennett is always poignant and spot on. One of the problems with the Republicans, and why I won’t ever vote for them again, is their heart felt opinion that the ends justify the means. To win, they will destroy the very thing they are being elected to protect. Putting it another way, they will not hesitate to trample of the Bill of Rights.
Even Steve Bannon thought the Trump Tower Meeting was Treason. I can’t believe I am agreeing with Steve Bannon By The Way The Treason was also collusion.
As Strawberryhellcat posted in a reply to pan.z: “One box in the matryoshka box miners. Blankenship was convicted o set that IS missing is the “legal disenfranchisement” box, in which millions of Americans (disproportionately African-Americans) are banned for life from voting in certain states because of felony records.
Then look at the case of Blankenship, Massey CEO responsible for the deaths of 29 miners. At first I wondered how he could run for office in WV since he was still on parole. But it turns out that Blankenship was convicted of a misdemeanor. WOW – 29 deaths and he gets a one-year sentence for a misdemeanor.
Even though Blankenship lost the Republican primary he is now running as the nominee of the West Virginia Constitution Party. Disgusting.
Why bother doing the hard work of creating proactive policies that will win the approval of and benefit most voters when you get into office using well-established disenfranchisement methods?

Give a man a vote and he’ll have democracy, give him the power to sway an election and he’ll be in office for life.

When someone suggested that voting places needed handicap access, what Republicans heard was “We should handicap voting access.”
