Bit of a fog, but, it’s lifting fast. The wind is blowing making the trees dance and we just has a gust blow through. My weather app shows rain coming in. bring it on baby.
Moving day again. I got up this morning to rainwater all over the windows and mirrors. It was all over with by the time I woke up, though. The wind was also blowing like a son of a gun. We’re parked next to some trees and I could see the foliage whipping right along. Not the best conditions for RV travel as we are definitely a slab-sided vehicle. Now (45 minutes later) the wind has died down and the sun is out. Go figure. The forecast is for “mostly cloudy” and 75 (and the same for our next stop), a blessed relief from the last two days. We’ll be in Wa Keeney, KS for three days.
Yesterday we drove over to the town of Lawrence to have a look around. We found the visitor’s center and a few brochures about local history. One of them was for a driving tour of the town showing the path of an 1863 raid. It was Quantrill’s Raid, also called the Lawrence Massacre which took the lives of over 200 men and destroyed over 180 buildings in 4 hours. There’s not much left of what was here in 1863, but we did get a pretty comprehensive tour of the town and Kansas University’s grounds.
Woke up to a cool morning with a light show and rumblings, unfortunately no rain, yet. This looks like my quiet day. So I think I will spend mist of it just reading a day early joy I got the quiet.
Everyone is anticipating or having rain, but all we got was some spritz. Not enough to water anything, but it’s great on the humidity (44% this a.m.). We’re still in the high 60’s and low 70’s right now.
Laundry is on my radar today. Only a few loads. Easy day, too. I think I’ll join Chris and read in my quiet place.
