Yesterday was another moving day. We’re in Lawrence, Kansas at yet another KOA. All of the rest of our stops will be KOA’s until we get to Las Vegas.
Yesterday was in the mid 90’s when we got here. Even when we went to bed last night I opened up the window and it was just hot air blowing in so I closed it again. At 8 AM it is already 70 and headed up to 93. Tomorrow is supposed to cool off with highs in the 70’s both here and at our next stop. In fact, looking ahead, the only stopping place on our route that will still be hot after today is Las Vegas.
Our campground is a typical KOA, a few trees and a lot of open space. We’re in an end space, so we have a large “yard” outside the door with a nice patio set instead of a picnic table. The owner/franchise holder also has a franchise for a pizza & wings provider. I can’t call it a restaurant because it is basically a big counter in the KOA office with a cooler for the ingredients and a cooker for the pizza. You go into the office to order and he delivers it to your campsite. Not bad pizza, either.
The closer we get to Nevada, the more anxious I am just to be there. I’m getting tired of driving long distances and worrying about the broken slide-out coming loose. We have only 4 more stops to go, one more in western Kansas, then two in Colorado and one in Utah. Kansas was the last “new” state for us. We have already been in the rest of the states on our route. Our map of the US on the side of the RV that shows what states we have visited together has all but 8 filled in now. (It is a set with the big outline of the country and state borders and colorful stickers for each state.) Perhaps someday we will be able to travel to those 8 and finish the map. We will have to remove the map when we sell the RV but we are already talking about finding an alternative like a piece of Plexiglas that we can mount on a wall somewhere.
Good morning, Vagabonds
