Charlie’s moved from Boston to DC? He found a way to get there by train, perhaps? On a “bad use of a song” note, the transit cards you use to get around the subway in Boston today are “Charlie Cards.” https://commerce.mbta.com/program/?prog=visitor Whose idea was that?? “Did he ever return, No he never returned And his fate is still unlearn’d He may ride forever ‘neath the streets of Boston He’s the man who never returned…”

^ That was the Everly Brothers, I think?

You had to pay a dime to get off the subway, but he didn’t have a dime, so he couldn’t get off.

^Where is the Kingston Trio when we need them?

Of course, how many of Republican leaders would find themselves trapped on the escalator?? If not for the ignorance of knowing they can still walk, they’d be too busy obstructing any progress to go up, or down.

I am truly heartened by the number of people here who remember that song.

It could have been the Kingston Trio that did that song, it was one of those acts that didn’t have an electric guitar or heavy drums I don’t have the song on reel to reel tape and can’t play youtube at the moment.
