How’d they get from the vacuum cleaner being chased by the bulldog at the Middletons to the neighbor’s kid asking if there was anything to eat?

I think the vacuum WAS the kid…which would have been better represented if the vacuum had been the colors of the kid’s clothing (yellow handle for his hat, green bag, etc.)
