There is no way that a verifiably accurate lie detector would be outlawed for use by the courts. People (who, in a lot more cases than you’d think, fear being wrongly convicted) would riot. I hope. I recently have come to have doubts about the general public actually acting in their own best interests.
So far there are not such things as “lie detectors” since they are not allowed in court and not from witnesses or anyone else under it. Though it is still used by corporations because they can.

One problem I see. Would it detect a repeated lie, or a crazy person, where the speaker believed that he was telling the truth?

Moral of the story…..lies are easy, whereas the truth is often inconvenient.
