A certain friend of mine is always asking over the phone where she left something. I tell her where the thing is, and many times I’m right.

The rest of the time she tells me where to go.

Consider yourself lucky Earl. I’d have told you to keep track of your own stuff, I have my own stuff to keep track of which is enough for me to remember without remembering where your stuff is.

I have known couples like Earl and Opal. They have been together so long one would be lost without the other

And yet women seem to never be able to remember their purses when they go out shopping with their husbands.

I get asked, “Where’s the thing?” and I’m supposed to know what it is.

My wife reads my mind often. It saves time actually.

I walk into the kitchen and start looking at the cabinets. My wife will immediately start telling me which door to open and which shelf to look on. I tell her it isn’t there and she will stomp over to pull in down off the shelf and I will say “that isn’t what I was looking for”. She then usually says then “we are out of it” and I go back to whatever I was doing. Sometimes I will try to explain to her what I was looking for and she will reach over and get it for me. It seems as if anything in the kitchen is hers and I have to ask for permission to even go in there. After 44 years I have come to the realization that this is how things work and acceptance makes for a much smoother marriage. On the other hand she knows to stay out of my tools.

Clearly it takes Opal about 1 second to read his mind. I have a mind like that too!

One time, when I was little, my mum and dad had this sort of conversation, and I got mad and yelled, “What’d he say? What’d he SAY?”

When I was younger I thought it strange how older couples talked less and less. I’m beginning to realize after 27 years of marriage it is at least partially because they don’t need to talk to communicate. I know from a single glance when I should change my shirt.

It’s easy since Earl and Opal have this same conversation(?) every day.

I used to hide Patsnozzle’s leg brace, take his wallet and go shopping! :) Kidding, but it has been tempting! :)

This does indeed happen. I was looking for something in the kitchen. Had not said a single word to Hubby. He said “it’s on top of the fridge.” He was right.
