Looks like “But what about. . .” has replaced comedy and insight in this comic.

One of these statements is a lie. Given Trump’s track record…

The left wing of the Democratic Party possesses an animosity towards the taxpayer. Their definition of ‘fair share’ is often ambiguous and ever changing.

Your problem, Mr. Kelly, is that the donkey is telling the truth in both panels of your cartoon.

Two very different topics but sure go ahead and take the lazy way out I know you have deadlines and your fans have little interest in anything other than poking Dems.

Hey Steverino, wealthy Americans are NOT paying their fair share. No matter how much you snark or distract from the truth, it still exists. The wealthy continue to accumulate wealth without paying a fair tax on it.

Both #45 and Kelley should learn the history of NATO! Then, PERHAPS, they wouldn’t make such asinine claims!

They are paying their fair share, while the rich are getting tax cuts to keep more and more money for themselves while the right cuts programs for the poor.

I think that the word “fair” is problematic here. It tends to get people all riled up.

About 12 years ago I was discussing Social Security with an acquaintance, and how to fund it. I suggested lifting the cap.

Boy, did my friend get mad. “Oh, no you don’t – that’s my money, I worked hard for it!”, “let ‘em figure something else out!”, “not FAIR to people who work hard and make something of themselves”, “I’ll never get out of Social Security what I put in!”, and so on.

But a few years later, the same guy had a son with a grave disability. Without medical care that cost a hell of a lot more than he made in a year, the boy would have died. Now, a hard-hearted person might have said “not my problem” to my friend. Would his reasoning have been “you should have had a healthy kid like I did”?

We see the absurdity in the above statement, but suggest that “those people” with dead-end jobs, poor educations, and no health care are wholly responsible for their conditions. Further, we consign children raised in one-parent poor households to the repeat the same dreary cycle.

I don’t think it’s about fairness. For me, it’s partially about self-interest. If I allow my tax dollars to fund public schools, or “socialized” health care, or food stamps, I’d like to think it will lead to fewer criminals who will target my home. Or maybe, perhaps, to a productive citizen who will share the burden.

Do any of the commentators who “debated” with @GEEZER think that he has a solid grasp of what “fairness” means?

The Republicans passed a tax cut that gives a huge amount of money to the top .1%, who are the folks we’re really talking about here. The cost is massive debt, which will be passed to future generations. That seems to be something Republicans only care about when a Democrat is in office, or the money is being used to shore up the social safety nets & keep millions of Americans from sliding into poverty.

Asking our NATO allies to honor their commitment to spend 2% of GDP on their own defense isn’t controversial. Heck, Obama did it, too. Suggesting the NATO alliance isn’t in our best interest is reckless at best. Russia is hostile to our interests & wants to undermine the institutions that prevent us from becoming a corrupt, autocratic oligarchy. Supporting that is basically treason.
