Ryan never claimed to be a leader. He’s always been a follower—of that sociopath Ayn Rand. A pretty sick person to follow, but then Ryan never claimed to have morals and ethics. (If he DID, people would laugh much harder than the people in this cartoon!)
Ryan is not seeking re-election, shocking the Republicans party already facing sever midterm headwinds. His decision will drive down moral in the GOP conference even more. Perhaps other fence-sitting members will decide to call it quits themselves. These additional open seats increase the likelihood that Democrats will take over the House.
Ryan was reluctantly thrust into the Speaker’s office because the last guy was tired of being miserable with it. While the Democrats are making it harder than it should be for the Republicans to stay in power, the enthusiasm and gender gap, combined with historical trends, make it likely that Democrats will win the House in November. Ryan is a policy wonk at heart, with a lifelong belief that lower taxes are better for America’s working families. Ryan has dedicated his adult life to public service, and along the way built a wonderful family.
We haven’t seen the last of him, he’s 48 and he’s a future presidential candidate. Leaving now helps his family and will give him some space to prep a run for the White House sometime down the road
Yeah, that’s how progressives feel about the Democrats’ “leadership” during these dark times, except for the last panel. We’ve been pretty outspoken about their complicity, something the Blue Dogs’ apologists get mad about. Us progressives are supposed to just keep our mouths shut and let the Democrats be complicit in letting the Republicans destroy the country and in many cases, aid the Republicans in doing so.

Well, he’ll be gone after his next re-election bid…IF he’s dumb enough to try to run again…

I truly do NOT like Ryan. However, he is smart for getting out as soon as he can. Trump has a history of damaging everyone he is associated with.

They got away with all of their crimes, what do they care?
