The latent editor within me thinks this would have worked better without the second to last panel. I wonder if Parker and Hart conceived it the way we see it, or if some editor suggested they add that beat, lest one or two readers not understand what’s happening. That one panel kind of slows the pace and delivery, and beats the idea over the head.
