A sobering image. Too bad our leaders are too drunk on terrorist blood money from the NRA to do anything about it.

Yellow crime tape donated by the NRA. It’s the least they could do.

The police tape appears to spell “OSA.” Is that significant?

Maybe gun lobbies should be regulated.

Perhaps we should look into the secret funding sources of the NRA, they are not obliged to tell where their money came from.

Laws need to be changed, vote out Republicans if they won’t do it.

What’s REALLY scary is that this is beginning to be considered “Normal”.

You would think shooting children is the line we shouldn’t cross.

Since the NRA is now being funded by Russian oligarchs, should we be worried that they don’t have America’s best interest in mind?

Please note, people, that ALL the mass shootings here in America took place in areas that no self-respecting Republican would be caught dead at (pun intended).

To get started on fixing the problem, don’t vote for any Republican, any time.

The Republican utopia – no child left behind, they have weapons powerful enough to kill them all.

No. It is happening everywhere. Often with guns but not always. I posted this yesterday and received a deadening silence in response.

Set aside your pro or anti gun sentiments.

While searching for information on shootings I came across the rampage killing sections in Wikipedia. Not my favorite source by any stretch, but the data is the data is the data.

The definition for a “rampage killer” in consistent throughout. The articles include all weapons as opposed to just firearms, but are clearly marked as to what was used.

I used the year sort function, going earliest to latest. What jumped out at me almost instantly was the scarcity of incidents prior to the 1980’s, and the growing frequency from that point forward.

What also struck me was the increase across the globe. Regardless of weapon, it appears that rampage killings in schools by deranged persons has been on the rise since the early 1980’s.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers_(school_massacres)

I then did the same operation on the broader topic of all rampage killings. Again, there is a relative scarcity of incidents prior to the 1970’s or 1980’s, depending on the region. With a growing frequency from that point forward.

Most with firearms, but quite a few with blades, fire and other weapons.

Sort by year and think about it. This increase in incidents is growing, all over the world. It is not an exclusively American problem. It is not limited to firearms.

    What is going on?

ANDYLIT, you posted your partial information everywhere

Go back to Wikipedia and search for the root – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers

If you read the text, not just look at the lists, you will see the following statement:

“Not included are school massacres, workplace killings, hate crimes or familicides, which form their own categories.”

Rather than trashing Wikipedia, which posts references for their data and they add notes sating that the article is missing data or references (like on this page), you might want to read it and look at the sources.

ANDYLIT, your insistence on “rampage killings” as the category is skewing the numbers. When you combined it with “school massacres” the list was only 56, which is FALSE.

It’s time for me to re-read John Brunner’s two prophetic novels – The Sheep Look Up (1972) and Stand On Zanzibar (1968).

Part of that is a prediction of the increasing commonality of “muckers” – people who for no reason run amok and start killing people – knives, swords, guns, whatever. The fundamental reason that Brunner suggests for this aberrant behavior is overpopulation causing mental breakdown.

[Another prediction is the legalization of marijuana and the criminalization of tobacco – more prophecy that’s becoming reality.]
