Maybe he wants to stay up late on purpose too. Going to sleep would keep him out of your hair if the dog did that; but I’m sure you’d be happy if he simply stayed out of your space, which isn’t something dogs are good at because they’re not as well behaved as snakes.
My little bad luck dog BoBo Jr. perfected that look. We called him our bad luck dog because he always managed to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. If there was a bee anywhere on the property, it would sting him. If there was a mockingbird nest, he would get dive-bombed. If he got too curious about Freddie the turtle, he got his nose nipped. Despite all that, he lived to the ripe old age of 16.

Both Bear and Wolfey tell me when I am up too late. They know when I should be sleeping. Sometimes I listen to them. (They are often right.)
