The involvement of major companies like AT&T, Novartis and a Russian Oligarch demonstrates how corrupt Washington has become. Cohen and his LLC acts like a legal firewall through which payoffs can be made to insure politicians pass legislation that favors them. Pay to play at the national level is a feature of real dictatorships.
And you wonder why “Lawyer Jokes”, such as; “What do you call a 747 full of lawyers plowing into the ground at full speed? A Good Start!” are so popular.
It sure is hard to “maintain discretion” and claim that it’s a big ol’ Fake News Nothingburger, when your clients are candidly acknowledging the relationship in public!
But I’m sure that full denials will remain the official word. And the Huckasanders will be explaining to all of us how it wasn’t really THAT Cohen that was involved, that the money was practically nothing, just a pittance, Trump-change. And besides, NO COLLUSION!
Tell me if this is a bright spot: At one time, major companies admitting to those payments would have been a scandal. Now, their admissions of the payments and the SHEER STUPIDITY of them are a refreshing change of pace from the continual cannonade of lying from the WH. I used to work for the phone company when Ed Whitacre headed it up — up from the ranks, he was an able administrator who actually DID things. The people in the company who actually DO things, the engineers, techs, the worker ants, were a good group of people. Their current management on the other hand…well, let me just say that, if the engineers and techs displayed in their jobs the acumen of current management, we’d have no phone service today.
Cohen looks a little bit like ex-gov Christie here. I wonder if, when he’s alone, the door is closed and the shades drawn, Christie sits down, breaks into a cold sweat and thinks, “omg, that was CLOSE!”

But, but, … I’m his lawyer, I’m sure I’ll be able to get through to him.

Your problem Mr. Cohen is that you trusted boss. Your bus is getting ready for you to be thrown under.

Isn’t this the kind of “swamp” behavior that Trump was supposed to be draining?
